在全球千萬樂迷的心目中，Santana可說是本世紀搖滾樂史上的一大傳奇性樂團。
1967年成軍於美國舊金山的Santana在六○年代末期帶動了一股新的音樂浪潮，
他們的音樂中融合了搖滾及拉丁風味濃厚的Samba、Funk、Raggae甚或Bossa-Nova，
在當時可算是首開先河。Santana自1969年推出首張同名專輯〝Santana〞
至今，一共已發行過超過二十張專輯，在全球擁有千萬以上的樂迷。
而Santana的靈魂人物Carlos Santana更是全球搖滾樂迷心中的傳奇人物，
曾經推出過八張個人專輯，全球總銷售量超過三億張的驚人天文數字，
而他在世界各地所舉辦的演唱會更吸引了超過一億五千萬人次的樂迷，
說他是本世紀最偉大的搖滾吉他手之一真是當之無愧。
Calos Santana出身於一音樂世家，
他的父親Jose Santana是位墨西哥傳統音樂的小提琴手，
Calos在他父親的引領下開始接觸傳統的墨西哥小提琴演奏技法。
Satana全家在1955年搬往墨西哥北部大城Tijuana，Calos在此地接觸到許多來自美國搖滾樂的資訊，
接觸搖滾樂的衝擊給Calos帶來新的音樂方向，他立即棄小提琴而改學吉他。
當時年僅八歲的Calos Santana學習的目標包括
B.B.King、T- Bone Walker以及John Lee Hooker等吉他演奏大師，
而他也很快就受邀加入一個當地名為〝T.J.'s〞的樂團，
在這段時間之內，Calos藉由以他自己的方式詮釋五○年代的搖滾樂曲以培養了他對於音樂敏銳的感觸。
在這之後，Calos Santana曾經加入許多當地的樂團，但都以翻唱別人的歌為主，直到他組成了〝
才開始創作屬於他自己的歌曲。的創作在Tijuana當地受到相當的好評，
而剛開始表演生涯的Calos也極受看好，前途一片光明。
